Job Description


We are seeking a Sous Chef Apprentice who’s willing to expand beyond their skills set and grow with our bakery. We are currently expanding our business avenues, and need someone who is a quick learner, motivated, quick-thinker and be enthusiastic about taking on responsibilities and looking for advancement within our business.

We're looking for someone who wants to be a part of the Sugarie family, as the team-player attitude is key. It is very important to us that you see yourself working for us long-term, and truly have an interest and love for the food business, and also have a willingness to prepare our meals and pastries specific tried and true methods. It's also essential that you're open to direction and feedback and mentoring where improvement is needed. Self-motivation and initiative to complete to-do lists and tasks designated for the day is key.

While we make every effort to make sure you have a balanced workday, there will be times and seasons that you'll be working under pressure with multiple orders. You must be someone who's positive and able to take the challenge. We are looking for someone is flexible and adaptable to various requirements of the job throughout the day. While your main job consists of line prep for brunch and breakfast service, your job responsibilities will be fluid and varied from a day-to-day basis.

Previous training and/or experience in a bakery / commercial food prep/line cook environment is preferred.

You will be responsible for assisting us with all baking, and line prep for lunch and/or breakfast services.

We're offering 1 part-time position of 20-25 hours per week. Weekends required.

Sous Chef Apprentice Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Committing to weekly schedule of showing up to work and on-time.
  • Mixing, preparing, and prepping sauces, and components of the season's lunch menu.
  • Prepping for daily lunch / breakfast service hours.
  • Ensuring all meals and properly plated, or packed into to-go boxes and up to our visual quality and standards.

Job Requirements
Sous Chef Apprentice Skills:

Ability to understand instructions and recipes.

Ability to implement prep processes using given tools with finesse.

Attention to detail and ability to replicate what's being instructed/shown.

Sense of urgency and timeliness to get orders and projects done in a timely manner

Good organizational skills. Ability to multi-task is a must.

Ability to meet varying deadlines

Good habit of keeping workspace clean and sanitary during and after food-handling is complete.

Must be able to adhere to health and safety regulations.

Already currently hold a valid Food-Handler Certificate.
