Safety Specialist - Distribution Center

This Team Member is critical in helping our Distribution Center Team Members stay safe and compliant with all regulatory agencies and policies.

This Team Member is required to become educated with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory procedures including state and federal Department of Transportation regulations, Good Organic Standards, and OSHA. In addition to maintaining and updating the safety policies and procedure, this Team Member will develop training to make sure Team Members are educated and compliant with all best practices.

 

Responsibilities:

• Assume point for equipment maintenance repairs in the facility and ensure continual equipment support and maintenance.
• Responsible for ensuring all programs and equipment are safe for working conditions and constantly addressing Team Member safety, compliance, and sanitation, including food safety.
• Develop training programs to support the Distribution Center.
• Partner with the Regional Safety Specialist to ensure all programs, trainings and compliance are being met.
• Order and distribute needed safety and PPE for facility.
• Organize and lead Distribution Center’s safety committee and meetings.
• Establish and maintain all training programs in accordance with facility Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and facility powered equipment.
• Act as liaison between facility and Regional Safety Specialist.
• Have a complete understanding of the requirements from all necessary regulatory bodies and ensure they are maintained and communicated through the facility.

Desired Work Experience and Skills:

• 1-2 years’ experience with safety protocols in a warehouse strongly preferred
• PCQI, HACCP, and OSHA 10/Cal OSHA 10 certifications preferred (can be provided if not already obtained)
• 2 or 4-year degree in food safety or safety management preferred but not required
• Solid administrative and data entry skills with high attention to detail
• Exceptional knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize completing all tasks in a thorough and timely manner
• Ability to perform physical requirements of position
• Ability to deliver information in a clear and concise manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors
• Able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the facility, including nights, weekends and holidays as required

Wage Range

• $27.15 - $37.98/hour
