The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is currently recruiting for the position of Reserve Firefighter. This is a volunteer position with the District and an outstanding opportunity to become a valued member of an innovative and progressive fire district.
ABOUT THE RESERVE FIREFIGHTER PROGRAM
The District's Reserve Firefighter Program is a dynamic and challenging program designed to create a pool of highly trained, volunteer Reserve Firefighters who will be capable of assisting the District's full-time personnel in meeting the operational needs of the District. It is an excellent program for candidates who are committed to pursuing a Fire Service career.
Reserve Firefighters will work under the guidance and supervision of the District's full-time personnel and will receive training in accordance with state training requirements for Firefighter I and Emergency Care (Basic First Aid and EMT-D). Please note that the District's training will only augment the skills development for these certifications. It will not provide Reserve Firefighters with Firefighter I or EMT certifications.
The Reserve Firefighters will provide hands-on support to the District in appropriately limited risk capacities, including responding to emergencies when required. Reserve Firefighters can expect to provide support to the District's Suppression crews for the following types of incidents: structure fires, wildland fires, medical emergencies, hazardous conditions, and public service assists.
The Reserve Firefighters will also provide support in a variety of other capacities, such as equipment maintenance, hose testing, station maintenance, and Fire Prevention activities (parades, public education, community events).
