Job Description

Bio-Rad is seeking a Project Manager to join the Life Science Group. You'll be joining a PMO that partners with engineering teams, developing new instruments advancing life science research. The candidate should be a highly motivated and proactive leader who is passionate about science and actively managing project teams to achieve business goals. The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to lead cross-functional teams through the product development cycle from conception through commercialization as efficiently as possible while maintaining a high quality standard.  A strong scientific background and excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.

 

This position is eligible for a $20,000 HIRING BONUS: 

 


  • Bonus offered for a limited time only.

  • Bonus applicable to specific positions as labeled.

  • Bonus recipients must be employed at the time of payout.

  • Bonus payout after 30 days of employment with Bio-Rad.

  • Bonus offered to direct hires only. Agency hires and internal transfers are not eligible.

  • 12 months repayment clause.

Responsibilities


  • Responsible for leading cross-functional teams through product development from Concept through Commercialization.

  • Leverages well developed interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive working relationships with functional groups throughout the organization.

  • Uses strong project and organizational knowledge, leadership and active facilitation to enable effective team meetings and high performance teams.

  • Responsible for creating and executing to project timelines to achieve business goals.

  • Proactively manages project risk and critical path items and effectively removes roadblocks.

  • Identifies interdependencies and strategic ways to facilitate project success.

  • Creates and maintains project records including a design history file.

  • Ensures, accuracy and high quality of project documentation.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field such as engineering, microbiology, biochemistry, etc. highly desired

  • 3+ years project management, product development or equivalent combination.

  • Experience managing reagent, instrument, or hardware development projects is required. 

  • Proactive leader with strong sense of accountability.

  • Able to manage multiple projects of simple to moderate complexity at the same time.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through ambigious situations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to articulate complex information throughout organization.

  • Effective interpersonal, negotiation and meeting facilitation skills.

  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills. Able to effectively facilitate conflict resolution.

  • Able to think creatively in leading project teams through obstacles and finding the best path forward.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Willingness and ability to occasionally travel (5-10%; domestic and international).

 

Nice to Have:


  • Experience managing software development projects is a plus.

  • Project management training and certification (e.g. PMP) is a plus.

  • Experience working in regulated industry (e.g. in vitro-diagnostics, medical device or pharmaceutical) is a strong plus.

  • Embedded systems experience a plus.
