The Plus Group is seeking a Plant Engineer to support our client’s manufacturing facility. This role serves as a site-based technical leader responsible for infrastructure reliability and capital project execution. Unlike day-to-day operations, this position is focused on long-term improvements, capital planning, and utility system readiness to ensure sustained reliability, safety, and growth capacity.
Working closely with Maintenance and Engineering Managers, the Plant Engineer will oversee utility systems, lead capital projects, and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Ownership

Oversee design, reliability, and improvements of utility systems: steam, compressed air, HVAC, chilled water, tower water, wastewater, and energy systems.

Lead facility infrastructure upgrades (building envelope, drainage, dock doors, and critical systems).

Ensure systems meet codes, internal standards, and safety requirements.

Recommend enhancements to preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Capital Project Leadership

Serve as site capital project leader, managing initiatives from scope development through execution and closeout.

Collaborate with site and corporate stakeholders on project budgets, goals, and timelines.

Prepare and submit capital expenditure requests per company procedures.

Manage contractors and engineering partners to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective delivery.

Ensure projects align with sustainability goals, operational strategies, and food safety requirements.
Strategic Engineering Support

Partner with Maintenance and Engineering Managers to identify infrastructure gaps and lead long-range capital planning.

Support new product, process, or capacity expansions through utility capability enhancements.

Maintain technical drawings, system documentation, and engineering standards.

Contribute to site master planning and capital forecasting.
Key Relationships

Works closely with: Site Maintenance Manager, Site Engineering Manager, Corporate Engineering & Capital Project Teams, Operations, FSQ, and EHS leaders

Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent progressive experience).

5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role.

Proven experience leading infrastructure-related capital projects.

Strong knowledge of utility systems and facilities engineering.

Familiarity with safety standards, engineering codes, and compliance expectations.

Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred

Experience in food & beverage or aseptic manufacturing environments.

Familiarity with FDA-regulated utility systems.

Experience with CMMS platforms (Infor/Hexagon EAM preferred).

Professional Engineering (PE) license or project management certification.
