Mental Health Clinician

CAPE Inc, Community Association for Preschool Education – Livermore, CA

CAPE, Inc. has a wonderful opportunity for a Mental Health Clinician in our dynamic and growing Early Childhood Mental Health program. We are a small, dedicated team of professional clinicians working in a flexible and supportive environment.

· Position is part-time (24-32* hours per week)

*Eligible for full benefit 30-32hr/week, prorated benefit 24-29h/week

Agency Overview: CAPE, Inc. is located in Livermore and provides early childhood education services (Head Start and Early Head Start preschool programs) in Livermore, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Hayward areas.

Program/Position Overview: CAPE Mental Health Program offers mental health services utilizing EPSDT funding and mental health consultation services for children 0-8 and their families in various settings (home, office, school, and community). The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing direct EPSDT mental health services to children age 0-8 and their families, and also providing Mental Health Consultation to CAPE Head Start preschool and partner sites. This position reports to the Mental Health Program Director.

Essential Functions:

· Assessment and treatment services: assess appropriate referrals, conduct intake interviews, develop treatment plans and provide psychotherapy, collateral, and case management services.

· Provide Mental Health Consultation services, including developing service plan goals.

· Collaborate with childcare centers providing consultation and training as needed.

· Establish and implement quality clinical treatment services.

· Complete all required documentation in a timely manner and by stated deadlines.

· Maintain and update client chart in accordance with various funding requirements.

· Attend clinical and quality chart review meetings as assigned.

· Collaborate with other professionals.

· Provide appropriate referrals to community resources.

· Report all suspected child abuse according to laws and regulations.

· Attend regularly scheduled training, supervision, and community meetings as assigned.

· Be able to integrate and practice cultural sensitivity and humility.

· Other duties in the program assigned by the director.

· Be able to provide mental health services in a non-traditional therapeutic setting.

· Be able to travel in the community to provide services.

Mandatory Requirements:

· Registered as MFT or MFT Associate with Board of Behavioral Sciences or possess LCSW or clinical license (PsyD.) A candidate with ASW registration will be considered depending on their intern hours accrual. (Supervision for ASW is not available at this time.)

· Experience, training, and/or interest in principles and practice of Early Childhood Mental Health

Qualifications:

· Master’s Degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work or related field

· Licensed MFT, LCSW, Psychologist or license eligible (BBS registered associate)

· 5+ years in the field of social services, preferred

· 2+ years in the field of infant and early childhood mental health preferred

· Experience working with diverse communities

· Experience with young children 0-5 and their families

· Familiar with principles of early childhood mental health assessment, treatment and diagnosis

· Self-motivated; ability to work both semi-independently and in cooperation with others

· Strong case management skills, intake & assessment skills

· Strong and effective communication skills both written and verbal

· Strong work ethics, organization, and clinical documentation skills

· Ability to exercise good clinical, legal, and ethical judgment

· Ability to make sound decisions and to multi-task

· Ability to use technology for assigned job duties (Example: Phone, E fax, Computer, PDF, Word, and EHR system.)

· Flexibility; ability to see clients in clinical settings, in community settings, in clients home and available to work evenings

· Valid California Driver’s License

· TB clearance and health screening

· Fingerprint and child abuse index clearance
