Job Description

This is a maintenance position to support operations involving Reactors, pumps, mixing vessels, agitators, transfer systems, fill line operations and maintain utilities (boilers, air compressors, purified water systems, electrical, etc.) that support the production environment.

 

This position is eligible for a $2,000 HIRING BONUS: 

 


  • Bonus offered for a limited time only.

  • Bonus applicable to specific positions as labeled.

  • Bonus recipients must be employed at the time of payout.

  • Bonus payout after 30 days of employment with Bio-Rad.

  • Bonus offered to direct hires only. Agency hires and internal transfers are not eligible.

  • 12 months repayment clause.

Responsibilities


  • Inspections/Repairs/replacement of various plant equipment and facilities including pumps, control valves, regulators, piping, seals, reactors, vessels, agitators, drive trains, bottling fill lines, safety equipment, etc.

  • Isolate chemical lines and equipment and apply LOTO to ensure safe working conditions.

  • Use of various machine tools (drill press, lathe, saws, etc.) to support repairs of plant equipment and facilities.

  • Must be experienced doing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.

  • Ability to use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.)

  • Forklift and or scissor lift certified.

  • Occasional overtime on nights or weekends as needed.

  • Be available for phone calls and respond to problems at the plant during off-hours.

  • Ability to learn and take ownership of plant equipment and or systems (boiler, air compressor, DI Unit, etc.)

  • Order replacement parts from equipment manufacturers and develop PM/Calibration programs.

  • Ensure maintenance work is completed in accordance with Corporate and Regulatory standards. Engage appropriate subject matter experts as appropriate.

  • Work with contractors and other service providers to safely complete assigned tasks.

  • Participate in root cause failure analysis. Complete corrective actions.

  • Drive improvements in housekeeping standards and assist with the implementation of a plant 5S program.

  • Maintain electronic calibration database for scheduling and documentation of instrument history and certification documents.

  • Work in SAP to purchase materials, initiate requisitions, and process invoices.

  • Writing and updating procedures/instructions related to maintenance and calibration tasks.

  • Other duties, projects, and support of NorCal production sites in Santa Rosa, Richmond, and Hercules as assigned.

  • High school diploma minimum (prefer additional college and/or formal trade school training).

  • 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of methods and practices in one or more craft(s).

  • Experience in maintenance troubleshooting. Including the ability to read mechanical drawing, and simple electrical and controls diagrams.

  • Experience with hand tools powered shop equipment common to the trade.

  • Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and computerized maintenance programs, purchasing, expense reports, etc.

  • A safety 1st mindset with good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must be able to wear a supplied air hood and additional PPE (Chemical suits, face shield, goggles, safety shoes, gloves, etc.) required for certain jobs.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.  Read mechanical drawings and simple electrical and control diagrams.

Qualifications


  • High school diploma minimum (prefer additional college and/or formal trade school training).

  • 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of methods and practices in one or more craft(s).

  • Experience in maintenance troubleshooting. Including the ability to read mechanical drawing, and simple electrical and controls diagrams.

  • Experience with hand tools powered shop equipment common to the trade.

  • Welding experience a plus.

  • Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and computerized maintenance programs, purchasing, expense reports, etc.

  • A safety 1st mindset with good interpersonal and communication skills.
