Job Description

Easterseals Northern California (ESNorCal) is seeking amazing, big-hearted and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Life Skills Coaches.

Life Skills Coaches make a tremendous impact to the lives of our program participants, engaging in meaningful activities that foster skills that enable our participants live productive and independent lives.

Successful Candidates:

  • Have at least a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education or related field is preferred.
  • Are Community Care Licensed “Teacher Qualified, of have 12 post-secondary units in education, special education or equivalent experience.
  • Have at least one year of experience coaching or teaching adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities in a team environment.

Job Requirements
Passionate about teaching and training.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities and in a multicultural environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively and professionally interact and communicate, verbally and in writing, with participants, staff, volunteers, and members of the public in a multicultural environment.
Patience and a positive attitude.
Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving services.
Able to be a team player, accept direction, take initiative, be flexible, and act professionally at all times.
Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; American Sign Language or bilingual ability desired.
Able to consistently demonstrate good judgement and decision-making skills.
Able to exercise confidentiality and discretion pertaining to the work environment.
Able to transport participants in vehicle. (If personal transportation is used to transport program participants, employee must be 21 years of age.)
Must have strong organizational skills, work well with others, and have the ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients, families, co-workers, and volunteers.
