Hexcel is currently seeking a Lab Technician for our Dublin, CA, USA location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Perform test specimen preparation, machining (table saw, tile saw, band saw, drill press, CNC) and dimensioning for composite and honeycomb mechanical testing.
  • Set up equipment and perform specific testing or analysis, following standard test procedures. 
  • Assist in training laboratory technicians to conduct proper machining, testing, and analysis using proper methods and procedures to assure safe practices and valid results.
  • Maintains records of work performed in laboratory notebooks or other documents required by our Quality Management System.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
  • Maintain lab equipment in an acceptable order.
  • Must be flexible to move to other labs within the department and to work swing shift and some weekends, if necessary.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; 2-4 years of college or trade/technical school preferred.
3+ years of experience in machining and/or structural testing in an industrial laboratory environment with standardized test methods is preferred.
General machine shop skills required - table saw, tile saw, band saw, drill press, lathe, CNC, etc.
Experience with composite materials is desired.
Strong computer proficiency to include MS Office experience (Excel specifically); prior CAD/drafting software experience is highly desirable.
Ability to move and mount fixtures of up to 55 lbs. is required.
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, etc.) are required.
Ability to understand engineering requirements; ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; and ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to read and operate measurement devices, such as calipers, micrometers, scales, etc., and compare results to required tolerances.
Works in a team environment to reach consensus decisions within the guidelines and boundaries established by the company, and maintains constructive relationships with co-workers.
Support and ensure compliance with Hexcel’s Safety System.
Operates at all times in compliance with the Hexcel’s Quality System and Quality Policy.
Comply with Hexcel policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct.
Ability to work overtime, as needed.
