Job Description

As a Bio-Rad Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist II, you will work within a global team. The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist II will support the occupational and environmental health and safety programs for our R&D, manufacturing, and distribution activities in Northern California, in and around Hercules, California.  A day in the life of a Safety Specialist at Bio-Rad requires computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to schedule appointments, answer emails, attend meetings, analyze data, draft programs, etc. and time away from the desk documenting inspections, attending face-to-face meetings, conducting drills, delivering in-person training, and overseeing hazardous waste shipments. This in-person role will interact with their EHS colleagues and internal customers on a daily basis and strong interpersonal skills are a must. 


 


How You will Make an Impact:



  • Under the leadership of the Northern California EHS Manager, this position will be responsible for ownership of multiple LQG sites hazardous and regulated medical waste programs, including material classification, disposal coordination, regulatory reporting, and on-site compliance management.

  • You will have ownership of the NorCal Emergency Response Team (ERT) program

  • Coordination of onsite occupational safety programs related to powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, lock out / tag out, etc.

  • Leading onsite safety teams including safety committees

  • Supporting corporate goals related to safety culture improvement and sustainability

  • Coordination of environmental safety programs related to site activities

  • Developing and delivering appropriate safety training based on site safety and environmental exposures and regulatory requirements

  • Coordination of accident investigations to identify proper corrective actions or solutions


What You Bring:



  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, including safety and health, engineering, biology, chemistry

  • 2-5 years of work experience in occupational and environmental safety and health

  • Expertise in hazardous waste and regulated medical waste management programs

  • Past experience working with Emergency Response Teams

  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements such as Cal/OSHA, EPA, and/or county requirements

  • Skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Experience completing and submitting regulatory reports to local, state or federal agencies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with SAP and other software such as PowerBI, DocuSign, and Smartsheets is a plus.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $73,400 to $101,000 at the time of posting.  Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
