The Continuous Improvement Project Manager is a key role to bringing direct value to our highest priority initiatives and support growth, cost, quality, etc.  The right approach, tools, and mindset are needed to tackle the biggest opportunities while teaching and fostering local ownership to drive sustainable changes systematically across the organization.

 

The Continuous Improvement Project Manager will utilize LSS expertise to serve as a business partner to Bio-Rad’s global supply chain, commercial organizations, R&D, and other corporate functions.  Business processes supported may include Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, Sales and Operating planning, or other processes that involve various reporting entities that need to work together. They will take a lead role in driving process improvements on highly visible projects having significant long term strategic and financial impacts on the company, teaching and coaching others as needed. They will orchestrate all aspects of project management and applying LSS methodologies cross-functionally.  They must drive the use of data for analysis and decision making as well as getting to root cause and prevention, having a thorough understanding of Lean and Six Sigma tools, Project Management, and Change Management while knowing how they integrate and can be applied effectively.  They will utilize a learn-do-teach approach to increase competencies and engagement across Bio-Rad.  As Bio-Rad establishes standardization and consistency worldwide, with a Lean Transformation daily management framework, the CIPM will help support the operational excellence approaches used in this framework from small incremental improvements to Black Belt level projects.

Responsibilities


  • Business process improvements, optimizations, standardizations or automations as applied to ERP/MRP systems and data reporting tools.  Drive collaboration between planning, manufacturing, procurement, finance, and other groups.

  • End-to-end value stream optimization:  Mapping current and future state, driving out cost and waste.

  • Manufacturing process performance and quality improvements.

  • Process mapping, problem solving and root cause analysis.

  • Kaizen event planning and facilitation.

  • Layout and lean process flow optimization and automation.

  • Supporting the Lean Six Sigma program in training Yellow Belts and Green Belts, hands-on within trainee-lead projects.

  • Lead site assessments and work with business partners to build site-specific roadmaps for Operational Excellence improvements.

  • Provide guidance and leadership on KPI metric development, gap analysis, and A3 problem solving.

  • Daily management stand up meeting problem solving coaching (Lean Transformation).

  • May be asked to support statistical data analysis including DOE, Process Capability, or SPC.

  • May be asked to support Total Productivity Management (TPM) or other foundational programs.

  • The CIPM will serve as a resident expert in Lean Six Sigma while providing coaching, applied learning and training on specific process improvement tools while utilizing the basics of change management.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in relevant technology.

  • 5+ years related experience.

  • 3+ years working in a manufacturing, supply chain logistics, or business process environment in Finance, Procurement.

  • Strong analytical skills including data collection and analysis and complex organizational alignment.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Able to deal with high level of uncertainty and shifting priorities.

  • Organizational skill tact and diplomacy.

  • Able to facilitate large and small groups and solve problems.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher level training and certification or equivalent from recognized organization.

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems.

  • Experience with Minitab or similar statistical software is a plus.

  • Experience with Visio or other process mapping software is a plus.

  • Experience with Power BI, Big Data mining tools or Robotic Process Automation is a plus.

  • Experience with manufacturing and manufacturing process automation is a plus.
