Job Description

Job Summary:

Cobalt Equipment Inc. is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Computer Technician with General Labor abilities. This is a Full Time, Temporary Position. In this role you will plan, coordinate, and troubleshoot computer-related activities by determining the technology needs of the company and making hardware- and software-related decisions to meet those needs. Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Configures, tests, updates, and repairs computing, copiers and other office equipment.
  • Performs regular preventive maintenance and diagnostic tests on computer systems.
  • Maintains computer systems and backs up software.
  • Create and maintain computer networks.
  • Build / set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers.
  • Maintain and repair technological equipment (e.g., routers) or peripheral devices.
  • Assist with Clerical, GIS, Satellite, Office Trailers as it pertains to networking and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain and run GIS and Clerical Trailer equipment.
  • Performs various physical and general labor tasks at the warehouse and as assigned.
  • Available to stay overnight as emergency operations require to support our equipment (up to but not limited to 5-night increments).
  • Manage security options and software in computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from attacks.
  • Oversees backup, security, and user help systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain CCTV  security camera systems and video surveillance.
  • Remains current on advances in technology.
  • Assists computer operators with technical problems as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting hardware and software systems.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to analyze and diagnose problems and work independently to solve them.
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
  • Have a clean driving record (able to drive company vehicles).
  • Excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively and remain poised under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical problems and offer solutions to non-technical individuals.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision as the solo technician.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and extended emergency stays.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, preferred.
  • 2+years’ experience as a Computer Technician required.
  • Proven experience as computer technician or similar role, required.
  • Previous experience, especially in particular industry, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently at times.
  • Must be able to work inside and outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to travel to offsite assignments for extended periods.
