Job Description

As one of our Solutions Architecture Staff, you will be responsible for architecting and building ETL Orchestrations, Jobs, Components and database schemas within Snowflake Databases and Matillion ETL components to answer business user stories around reporting and analytics. You will be expected to operate in a dynamic, complex and multi-time zone environment; delivering data on-time, in full and accurately. Your duties may include working with our medical instruments teams for fast moving lifesaving data or with our finance teams to create worldwide reporting into critical areas such as margin, revenue and salesperson performance.

 

It is expected that you will be a flexible player, able to switch from various subject areas with ease and interact with business users to understand requirements, caveats and unique scenarios around the data.  You will be exposed to business intelligence innovation, data lake implementation, data science projects, ERP expansions and a growing cloud analytics environment @ Bio-Rad. We operate in an SAP Environment, and deep understanding of SAP Plant, Master and Transactional data is pivotal to your work.  Data Visualization is also a key deliverable for our group and you will be expected to learn the impact of your work on the presentation layer in Power BI.  It is expected that you will learn to deconstruct and re-engineer user created intellectual property in PowerBI and other ETL Tools (for ex. NiFi, Alteryx and SAS) and escalate it to an enterprise level of refinement within our chosen Snowflake Data Lake and Matillion ETL environment.

 

Training will occur in the latest data warehousing, data mart and ETL techniques with top line tools (Snowflake & Matillion). ERP Exposure and training will include SAP & Attunity Replicate for SAP/Snowflake.  Visualization Training will include Power BI and general practices. You will be trained in the usage of Testing Automation tools to FUT your work and QA the work of other developers.

Responsibilities


  • Demonstrate and apply strong knowledge of SAP ERP systems as a data source.

  • Take business requirements and design documentation and create architecture and ETL Pipelines in Matillion ETL scheduled jobs and orchestrations as well as Snowflake tables and schemas.

  • Develop Analytics solutions following Bio-Rad standards to ensure ease of understanding from other development and support staff.

  • Assist with testing your own and other team members’ solutions alongside our Data Quality team, utilizing test automation tools and frameworks to accelerate testing at scale.

  • Participate in routine maintenance, performance tuning and support of ETL Environments and the DW Environment.

  • Participate in monitoring of the ETL Environments for Matillion, Attunity Replicate and Snowflake DW.

  • Potentially be available to:

  • Participate in Machine Learning objectives by providing data lake solutions.

  • Participate in application integrations utilizing data from the data lake.

  • Develop or Run Test Automation tools and scripts in coordination with the Testing Team.

Qualifications


  • 3 years + experience with:

  • SAP R/3 ECC and ERP systems as a source with deep understanding of SAP Data Schemas.

  • Enterprise level, component based ETL Development.  Using tools similar to Informatica, Pentaho Kettle, Microsoft SSIS, Talend, Matillion, AWS Glue etc. 

  • Enterprise class relational data warehouse solutions such as Snowflake, Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server etc. bonus for cloud products.

  • Solutioning in a complex ETL Environment with hundreds or thousands of scheduled load processes.  Understanding of cross pipeline impacts and mitigating risks. Global environment spanning many time zones is preferred.

  • 1 years + experience with:

  • Enterprise level Data Visualization Tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Microstrategy, Pentaho BI etc.

  • Test Automation as a participant.
