Job Description

Drive business performance by using, promoting, and executing Lean Operational Excellence tools, processes, and concepts across. Utilizes Lean to determine what, why and measure how well its executing, and drive a continuous cycle of change and improvement. Uses Lean as a way of thinking, a set of principles, and a collection of methods and tools that shape who we are and what we do. Act as a key business partner to the VPs of Operations and the leaders of the Plants and DCs to lead, enable, and implement, a roadmap of strategic priorities and critical metric improvements.


How You’ll Make An Impact: 


Identify key improvement thinking, approaches and capabilities critical to improving operational (productivity, lead time, quality, scrap, uptime, etc) and financial performance (cost, cash, revenue, manufacturing expense, operating margin) across our business: 



  • Instrument manufacturing (discreet manufacturing)

  • Reagent manufacturing (batch flow/high speed automation) 

  • Global service (call) centers, field service support, sales team support (transactional information flow, order to pay, inquiry to order, pricing, etc) 

  • Finance (accounts receivable (AR), month end close, working capital, etc) 

  • Product development/product launch

  • Sourcing, procurement, supply chain and logistics 

  • Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), master scheduling, production planning 

  • Daily management (i.e. managing for daily improvement (MDI), kaizen and Continuous Improvement 

  • Leads highly complex cross-functional Lean projects, having significant long term strategic and financial impact for the company. 

  • Propose project/objective prioritization. 

  • Able to benchmark across sites, groups, divisions and regions. 

  • Evaluates training needs, gathering stakeholder information and orchestrates events for training/buy-in, roll out, and execution. 

  • Regularly generates content and teaches advanced Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Manages Lean project portfolio for multiple sites and/or departments. 

  • Uses innovation to establish new techniques to problem solving seeking new software and technology often beyond Bio-Rad’s current platforms. 

  • Can support an agile framework. 

  • Ability to support, lead, and delegate a project team’s responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project life cycle. 

  • Will provide guidance and oversee the work of lower-level employees. 

  • Understands the change management needs and recruits needed resources to ensure buy-in. 

  • Deliver formal and informal Lean training and coaching by using Lean OPEx tools that focus on internal and external customers.


What You Bring: 



  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in relevant technology. 

  • Work Experience: 10+ years experience of relevant professional experience with process improvement, operations, inventory management, quality processes, metrics based improvement, or complex project management. 

  • Ability to teach all Lean Six Sigma and analytical skills An example of interpersonal, communication, savviness, and ability to present information tailored for specific audiences. 

  • Familiar with Agile methodologies o Proficient in Microsoft Office and LSS-related software. 

  • Proficient with the industry standards for Project Management methodologies 

  • Demonstrated achievement in meeting or surpassing goals, striving for outcomes, working well with others and adapting to changing priorities. 

  • Have experience implementing strategy through Policy Deployment (Hoshin Kanri 

  • Training or certification in one or more of the following: Standard Work, Visual and Daily Management, Problem Solving Process, Transactional Process Improvement, Value Stream Mapping. 

  • Able to deal with high level of uncertainty and ambiguity. 

  • Organizational skill tact and diplomacy.

  • Integrity and excellent judgment with transparency. 

  • Able to facilitate and resolve highly complex organizational problems.

  • Black belt or Master Black Belt Certification or equivalent in Lean or Six Sigma from recognized organization.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $169,800 to $233,400 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
