Job Description
Axis Community Health is a nonprofit community health center that is growing rapidly in response to the exciting changes that are occurring in the healthcare arena. Axis Community Health has served the Pleasanton, Livermore, and Dublin area since 1972. Our services include medical care, mental health counseling, behavioral health, and WIC nutrition services for Tri- Valley residents.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Community Engagement Manager will conduct outreach in the community and maintain partnerships with Tri-Valley agencies and non-profit organizations. We seek a candidate who believes in Axis’s mission, who is passionate about our work, and who is a results-oriented executor and collaborative team player.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Director of Communications and Community Engagement:
• Plan, promote, and execute logistics for outreach activities that engage uninsured individuals and families in need of healthcare coverage, including tabling at community events and group presentations.
• Complete training for certification in Covered California enrollment services and work collaboratively with other staff to remain current on healthcare enrollment information.
• Assist in contract management for Covered California services and prepare required grant reports for enrollment services, in conjunction with other project staff. Attend regional meetings and online calls, manage Axis contact information on the Covered CA website, and manage inventory of Covered CA informational supplies.
• Research and identify appropriate partnerships that will lead to long-term sustainable relationships within the Tri-Valley Community.
• Assist with developing marketing, communications, and outreach materials including print-based, website content, PowerPoint presentations, and community outreach efforts.
• Support the Director of Communications and Community Engagement to distribute information about Axis’s programs in targeted communities through print collateral and online content including the organization’s website, social media, and local news outlets.
• Disseminate information throughout the community regarding enrollment in healthcare coverage and services provided through Covered CA and Medi-Cal.
• Respond to consumer inquiries regarding obtaining health care coverage.
• Maintain resource areas at Axis sites with current information on services and resources for patients.
• Other administrative duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 1-3 years of previous experience in a role focused on outreach and relationship-building in diverse communities.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Excellent meeting facilitation skills, including the ability to effectively present information to a wide variety of stakeholders.
• A can-do attitude, attention to detail, ability to organize and set priorities, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong project planning, organizational competency, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with graphic design (Canva, Illustrator, etc.), web updates, social media, and e-mail campaigns desirable.
• Experience with donor management software a plus.
• Ability to travel locally and attend weekend and evening events.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is desired, but not essential.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a typical office or clinic work environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. Physical: Occasionally required to carry/lift/push/pull/move up to 30lbs. frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, etc. Must be able to stand, sit for extended periods. Requires the ability to reach with hands and arms and occasionally climb stairs. Requires sitting operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to other Axis health centers and other travel will be required.

Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone, copy machine fax machine and other medical office equipment.

Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports and signage. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with staff etc.

Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office (medical clinic/office) environments. Occasional exposure to dust and loud noises.
