Position Summary: Livermore Valley Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts, is seeking a Production Manager to oversee the Bankhead Theater production schedule, manage production staff, and collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth execution of all productions and events in the Bankhead Theater. The successful candidate should have a passion for live entertainment and theater arts, as well as experience in theater production and management, with a keen awareness of the importance of philanthropic support in sustaining our mission.
Essential Job Duties:
Advances with all clients, from national acts to local resident companies
Manage Hospitality and Production staff, including scheduling, hiring, training, and performance management
Establishes the number of technicians, time, and material required to stage various events and schedules prior to each production
Manage in-house technicians and resident volunteers for all events
Determines priorities of event coordination: hanging of soft goods, electric, audio, and supplemental rental equipment
Ensure the safe use of rigging lighting, sets, and drapes to the linesets
Determines and prioritizes purchase of replacement and upgrade of equipment based on need and budget
Manages, purchasing, scheduling, repair, and maintenance of all stage equipment
Collaborate with the Director of Operations to develop and manage the production budget
Ensure all productions and events comply with relevant laws and regulations, including health and safety, OSHA, and Fire safety
Prudently manage limited budgets while maintaining a philanthropic mindset
Office Duties:
Review contracts and riders for Bankhead Presents performances
Accruing, coding, submitting & approving payables for the production department such as invoices, reimbursements, credit cards, ect.
Reviews and submits timesheets for production staff
Assists in setting goals and strategies for the overall development of LVA
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with resident companies and renters
Serves as a resource for resident companies assisting with the development of production requirements
Attend meetings as needed
Co-Facilitate weekly operations meetings with the Director of Operations
Assist with additional programming as needed
Any other duties needed to help drive the organization’s vision, mission, and abide by the organization's values
Education and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Theater Production or equivalent experience (10 years working in production & 3 years management experience)
Strong interest in and/or appreciation for the arts
Ability to supervise and motivate staff, including groups of stagehands, stage electricians, and/or stage carpenters
Must be punctual and reliable
Ability to work with resident organizations, visiting artists, event producers, and others to advance the work of Livermore Valley Arts
Work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Attention to detail and deadlines
Physical ability to work long hours when needed
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Ability to coordinate all the components in presenting theatrical productions
Ability to hold arms up for long periods of time
Punctuality and reliability are essential
Knowledge of safety procedures
Skills:
Experience and training that would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed above
Considerable knowledge in stage technical work and stage management
Thorough knowledge of theater craft, tools, practices, and techniques
Knowledge of common business computer applications including but not limited to Google Workspace, MS Office, Workforce Go, VenueOps, or Facility management software
Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems
Strong organization, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented
Ability to supervise and motivate staff and volunteers
Work in a high-paced, team-oriented environment
Continued education in Rigging, Electrical, and Fire Safety laws
ETCP Certifications in Theatrical rigging and Lighting/Portable power preferred
