Job Description

As the Associate Director, Software Development, you will be the leader for the Instrument software for all medical devices built under the Bio-Rad Clinical Diagnostic Group. Your day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around spearheading the development of instrument control and analysis software. This will involve close collaboration with cross-functional leaders, actively participating in core team meetings and functional excellence reviews. You will continuously monitor the dependencies, risks, and technical challenges that arise during the development process. In addition, you will work closely with Marketing and leadership teams to drive strategic initiatives such as hackathons and learning events. These activities will help foster innovation, promote knowledge sharing, and enhance the overall performance of the team.

Your role as a leader will be multifaceted, encompassing technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic vision. By effectively managing the development effort, engaging with various stakeholders, and driving strategic activities, you will contribute to the successful delivery of cutting-edge medical Diagnostic software solutions.


 


How You’ll Make An Impact: 



  • Lead and drive the development of the Software for the next generation Instrument platform with high quality, scalable software architecture and design solutions that meet customer needs. 

  • Guide a scrum team 20+ of developers, providing hands-on technical leadership and driving development implementation processes and activities. 

  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with cross functional teams and stakeholder to understand the dependencies, risks and progress across the system. 

  • Tackle challenges and drive software innovations that propel science and healthcare into the future.


What You Bring: 



  • Education: Master’s in computer science or bioinformatics.

  • Work Experience: 8+ years of demonstrated experience of leading and growing successful engineering teams with emphasis on innovation, scalability, and reliability.

  • Leadership experience driving high performing teams through fast paced and complicate Instrument platform development.

  • Cross functional collaboration with clear understanding of product development life cycle and commercialization process.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $169,800 to $233,000 at the time of posting.  Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
